Venue: Playfootball Romford (http://www.playfootball.net/romford).
State of the art '3G' pitches, identical to the ones used in previous years in Southend so you can wear your classic Copas or your silly pink boots.
Date: Saturday July 18th - before the school holidays begin.
Time: Kick off at 11am till around 3pm. Raffle and beers after. Hoping for an Ex-Pro or someone connected with the club to come and give out the trophies/say a few words.
Format: 16 teams, 4 groups akin to Euros, then knockout stages.
Cost: £10 donation per player to the BMF.
Teams: Maximum of 8 players per squad
General rules: 5-a-side, roll on roll off subs, over head height TBC.
If you are interest please post/whomail me. Whilst this is a little way away - we had a few teams saying they were in, only to pull out late on last year and I want to avoid the same this year!
FAQ:
Q: I'm a bit shit, can I still play?
A: Of course, everyone is welcome, even I played one year. In all seriousness we have teams of all abilities playing every year.
Q: We have a mate in our team but he supports Spurs/Chelsea/Millwall - can he still play?
A: Yes of course, so long as you make us aware who he is so we can kick lumps out of him.
Q: I'm injured but I'd still like to help out some way - can i?
A: YES - we will really need help with refs and people generally co-ordinating.
Q: I've had handbags with Mr Polite/KIA/Pancho, I'm afraid they'll be nasty to me.
A: We've had 1 set of handbags in 5 years, you'd be surprised how nice everyone is to each other when you take the keyboard away.

Last word on this from me. Yes we could have piped up but as I said didn't want to risk spoiling the day as not sure how well that would have gone down.

Just need to drop it now I think? What happened happened. Like I said, it could have easily been sorted on the day by just speaking to the capt and confirming you didnt have much game time so will be playing the whole of the last game (for example).

That would seem fairer Penners. At least the teams might be a bit more even numbers wise?
I did commit early to this MPI. Wasn't digging out HH at all I said he was a decent bloke, was more frustrated with our team who seemed to think it was okay to keep starting with the same players which did not include me or gph and then bring us on with 3 minutes or less to go. As I said also I came on as sub in one game and was then subbed after about 90 secs / 2 mins. Didn't want to make an issue and spoil the day at the time but you just hope people will be grown up and fair about stuff like that.
I did come to play as I don't really play anymore due to age and not knowing people who play regular since I moved back to London, so when I saw it was local and for charity I jumped at the chance for a game.

Wow HH that is a lot of money!!!
As someone, like OMM who was involved in the first tournaments but has had to drop away, I am in your debt for keeping this going and maintaining the standard for organisation, fund raising and WHO community spirit. I doff my hat to you and will dontate later today.
Dont let other peoples opinions take the shine off for you Honest Son, sounds like 13BR and gph now the score after their 1st tournament, commit early and get in a WHO team or set one up yourself.
At the end of the day it is about the charity, the camaraderie and the Bobby Moore Cancer fund.
Anyone can get a game of 5-a-side on any given week at any given sports centre. But this is something special

the time was 10 mins and .51 of a second when i blew up, just as the guy shot. luckily the score was 3-0 anyway, although when HH went "was that 4-0 then" I was like "nope...3-0, rules are rules"
Ive offered my assistance to HH for next year if he fancies doing it again however rckon we go old skool. ie) all the names come in and teams are drawn at random.

Penners was a great Ref to be fair
aside from blowing up just as the ball hit the back of the net and not being able to work out how 5 penalties works in a 5 a side team........
HH did a great job, and made my sons day giving him a medal, we had no chance of winning one officially when playing against a team of Avatars in one match!
